HONGKONG.
GOVERNMENT HOUSE.
6th January, 1915.
Sir,
to 1608/14
In continuation of my despatch No.378 of the
29th of November, I have the honour to inform you that with
the addition of some belated subscriptions the total of the
Flood Relief Fund now amounts to $349,465.71 .
2.
I enclose a report by Mr. A. E. Wood on the
disbursements for the repair of dykes which had been burst by
the floods. I lent the services of Mr. D. Jaffé, Executive
Engineer in the Public Works Department, to advise on some of
these repairs and he generously undertook the work gratuitous-
ly.
3.
I regret to report that Mr. A. E. Wood con-
tracted a very severe attack of malaria during his work in the
flooded district and that it has been necessary to grant him a month's sick leave to undertake a sea voyage to Japan.
I have the honour to be,
Sir,
Your most obedient,
humble servant,
Ангада
Covernor, &c.
THE RIGHT HONOURABLE
LEWIS HARCOURT,
